01 — The Story
I capture the things
I'm afraid I'll forget.
I'm Nachilima — a photographer based in Livingstone, Zambia, the town that sits at the edge of Victoria Falls. Living next to something that loud and that permanent teaches you to pay attention to the quieter things: the way someone's home tells you their whole story, the particular colour of the sky at 6pm, a face that won't leave you alone.
I studied Commerce at Delhi University in India — graduated August 2022 — and came back home. Trading spreadsheets for a camera was the easiest decision I've ever made.
My work is documentary at its heart, but I'm not chasing news. I'm chasing the ordinary: everyday life in Southern Zambia, the animals and landscapes I've known my whole life, the women who create beautiful things with their hands. I use digital photography and edit in Adobe Photoshop — sometimes Canva for quicker work — but the image always starts in the moment, not on the screen.
I've worked as a freelance photographer, including as Social Media Manager at Focus Africa Consulting, and as a Photography Intern at UpTrend Gift Shop where I got deep into lighting setups, composition, and working with real people. This site is the next chapter — putting the work where it can be seen.
“Passionate about capturing the beauty of everyday life through a unique lens, aiming to engage and inspire viewers.”
